What is reading comprehension?

Reading comprehension strategies are conscious techniques or mental processes that readers use to understand and interpret texts. These strategies help readers make connections, extract meaning, and enhance retention and comprehension of what they are reading. Some common strategies include:

1.-Activation of prior knowledge:  relating the topic of the text to personal experiences or prior knowledge to enhance understanding.

2.-Making predictions: making predictions based on the information provided and the context to anticipate what might happen next in the text.

3.-Identification of main ideas: identifying the most important or central ideas of the text.

4.-Inference: To deduce information that is not explicitly stated in the text, using contextual clues and prior knowledge.
